“According to your faith, be it unto you.” — Matthew 9:29

O for a faith that will not shrink,

Though pressed by every foe,

But in the hour of grief or pain,

Will lean upon its God.

Though trials seem incomprehensible,

Yet I will fear no foe;

With God all things are possible,

His Word shall never fail.

Lord, give us such abiding faith,

A faith that never fails;

A faith that keeps the narrow way

Scripture Reading: Genesis 12:1–7; 15:1–6

Genesis 12:1–7

Now the Lord had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,

From your family

And from your father’s house,

To a land that I will show you.

I will make you a great nation;

I will bless you

And make your name great;

And you shall be a blessing.

I will bless those who bless you,

And I will curse him who curses you;

And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.

Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother’s son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan.

Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, as far as the terebinth tree of Moreh. And the Canaanites were then in the land.

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Genesis 15:1–6

After these things, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying,

“Fear not, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

But Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”

And Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!”

And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying,

“This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”

Then He brought him outside and said,

“Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

TOPIC: ABRAHAM’S FAITH

EXPOSITION

Abraham’s journey remains one of the greatest examples of faith, trust, and perseverance in Scripture. God called him to leave his homeland and promised to make him a great nation (Genesis 12:1–3). Even though the fulfilment of that promise took many years, Abraham continued to trust God wholeheartedly. He received the promise at the age of seventy-five, yet Isaac, the promised child, was not born until he was one hundred years old (Genesis 21:1–7).

His faith was greatly tested by circumstances that appeared impossible — Sarah’s barrenness and their old age (Romans 4:19–21). Nevertheless, Abraham remained confident that God was faithful to fulfil His Word (Hebrews 11:8–12). His life teaches us patience, unwavering trust in God’s timing, and confidence in His power to accomplish His purposes.

Like Abraham, believers today must remember that God’s promises are certain, even when there seems to be delay. Trusting God through the waiting process strengthens our faith and prepares us for greater blessings and divine assignments. The Lord is never late concerning His promises, as some may think; He is always faithful in His perfect timing (2 Peter 3:9).

Prayer Points

Lord, help me to trust in Your promises even when I cannot see the way forward.

Father, strengthen my faith in Your divine plan, even when the fulfilment seems delayed.

Pray for greater manifestations of God’s power and presence in CAC Odubanjo Region, in the life of the Regional Superintendent, all officers, and members at every level, in Jesus’ name.
