Bible Text: John 15:1–8

In this passage, Jesus describes Himself as the True Vine and God as the Gardener (Husbandman). Believers are the branches who must remain connected to Christ to bear fruit.

Fruitful branches are pruned so they can produce more fruit.

Lesson Introduction

Jesus Christ lived a perfect and impactful life, and His influence continues to transform lives today. As followers of Christ, we are called to live lives that positively influence others through commitment, service, love, and dedication to God.

The Apostle Paul encouraged believers to follow his example as he followed Christ. When we live lives devoted to God, we are assured of divine rewards both now and in eternity.

Lesson Outline One

Get to Know God

(Philippians 3:10)

Knowing God brings great blessings, though it may also involve challenges or persecution. The Apostle Paul is a good example of someone who experienced the benefits of truly knowing God.

Some benefits of knowing God include:

It gives strength and the ability to accomplish great things (Daniel 11:32).

It brings an end to fruitless efforts (Luke 5:1–7).

It provides protection in times of danger and opposition. The three Hebrew men remained fearless even before the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:16–25).

It leads to fulfillment of destiny and realization of dreams, as seen in the life of Joseph.

It strengthens trust in God even in difficult times (Psalm 23).

It confuses and frustrates enemies, just as Haman was confused by Mordecai’s steadfast faith.

It empowers believers to confront adversaries (Exodus 34:29–35).

Ultimately, God grants victory in every battle.

Lesson Outline Two

Stay Connected to God

Remaining connected to God means maintaining a strong relationship with Him through obedience, trust, and commitment. Just as branches depend on the vine for nourishment, believers must depend on Christ for spiritual life and growth.

Staying connected to God helps believers to:

a. Receive daily spiritual nourishment (1 Corinthians 2:10–16; 1 Timothy 3:16).

b. Bear more fruit by sharing the gospel and winning souls (Matthew 28:19–20; John 15:16).

c. Experience spiritual pruning through personal devotion, Bible study, and prayer (2 Timothy 3:16–17).

d. Maintain strong fellowship and spiritual discipline, avoiding complacency.

e. Preserve their Christian identity, which will be evident through their fruits (Matthew 7:16).

f. Receive divine instructions and avoid distractions in life.

Summary

Living a meaningful and impactful life is a responsibility for every believer. We must strive to glorify God through obedience, dedication to His purpose, and spiritual growth until we attain maturity in Christ.

Conclusion

Scripture reminds us that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses who made significant impact in their generation despite many challenges.

Examples include apostles such as Peter and Paul, as well as Christian leaders throughout history like Smith Wigglesworth and Kathryn Kuhlman.

In our time, leaders like Enoch Adejare Adeboye continue to make a powerful impact in this generation.

Therefore, we must seek God’s grace to also make meaningful contributions to our generation.
