OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS DEVOTIONAL

📅 Date: Monday, April 20th, 2026

Topic: Avoid Comparison

Memory Verse

“For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”

— 2 Corinthians 10:12

Bible Reading

Psalm 139:13–16 (KJV)

For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the the earth.

Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Message

It is very easy for young people to compare their lives with others, especially while scrolling through social media. Seeing pictures of friends going on vacations, attending exciting events, or showing off new things can sometimes make your own life feel less exciting or meaningful.

However, it is important to remember that most people only share their best moments online. They rarely show the challenges, struggles, or difficult times they go through. That classmate who looks perfect in every picture may have taken many photos before selecting the one that looked best. The friend whose life appears perfect may also be facing personal battles that are not visible on social media.

Dear young friend, never compare your behind-the-scenes life with someone else's highlight reel.

God created you uniquely and intentionally. He has a special purpose and plan for your life that is different from anyone else’s. Instead of comparing yourself with others, focus on becoming the best version of yourself.

Fill your mind with positive and uplifting content. Follow Christian platforms that strengthen your faith, spend quality time with God in prayer and Bible study, and always remember to appreciate the blessings God has given you.

I pray that social media will never distract or mislead you from God’s purpose for your life, in Jesus’ name.

Action Point

Avoid comparing yourself with others.
