TOPIC: Beware of Spiritual Crocodiles (I)
🔹 MEMORY VERSE
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
— 1 Peter 5:8
SCRIPTURE READING
1 Peter 5:8–11
Be sober and vigilant because your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
Resist him by standing firm in the faith, knowing that believers around the world are experiencing similar sufferings.
And after you have suffered for a while, may the God of all grace—who called you to His eternal glory through Christ Jesus—perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
EXPOSITION
Crocodiles are known for hiding beneath the surface of the water while patiently waiting for the perfect moment to attack their prey. In a similar way, spiritual crocodiles represent hidden dangers that threaten the faith and spiritual growth of believers. These dangers may look harmless at first, but they can lead to destruction if they are allowed to grow unchecked.
Spiritually, these “crocodiles” can appear in many forms, such as pride, compromise in our faith, unhealthy relationships, or false teachings. Just as a crocodile attacks suddenly and forcefully, the enemy often uses these subtle traps to weaken believers and draw them away from God.
That is why the apostle Peter warns believers to remain sober and watchful. Spiritual vigilance requires constant prayer, regular study of God’s Word, and sensitivity to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Like a watchman guarding a city, we must stay alert so we can recognise and avoid the enemy’s schemes.
To overcome these spiritual dangers, believers must stand firm in their faith and resist the devil (James 4:7). We must also put on the full armour of God daily (Ephesians 6:10–18) and rely on the strength that comes from Christ. Remember that through Jesus Christ, the victory over the enemy has already been secured (Romans 16:20; 1 Corinthians 15:57).
PRAYER POINTS
Lord, grant me spiritual alertness and discernment so that I will not fall into the traps of the enemy.
Father, strengthen my faith to stand firm against every hidden danger in my walk with You.
Pray that God will move the CAC Men’s Association forward and empower the Chairman and all officers at every level, in Jesus’ name.
