“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

SCRIPTURE READING

Psalm 46:10; Mark 1:35

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Mark 1:35

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.”

EXPOSITION

Silence has a powerful ability to create room for reflection, creativity, and spiritual growth. It is not merely the absence of noise but a deliberate practice of quieting the heart in order to hear from God clearly. Moments of stillness help us become more attentive to God's guidance.

Jesus Himself regularly withdrew to quiet places to pray and commune with His Father. As seen in Mark 1:35, He intentionally sought solitude to strengthen His spiritual connection. If the Son of God valued such moments of quietness, we too must recognize the importance of being still before God, as instructed in Psalm 46:10. In silence, distractions fade away and we become more receptive to God's voice and direction.

In today's busy and noisy world, practicing silence helps us refocus and reconnect with God. Isaiah 30:15 reminds us that strength is found in quietness and trust. Just as a lion moves silently and strategically while hunting, believers should also walk with calm confidence, guided by God's wisdom and steady voice.

Beyond its spiritual benefits, silence also contributes to physical and emotional well-being. Quiet moments reduce stress, sharpen concentration, and restore inner peace. Ecclesiastes 3:7 teaches that there is “a time to keep silence.” When we intentionally create space for quiet reflection, we allow God to shape our hearts, renew our minds, and direct our steps.

PRAYER POINTS

Lord, help me to appreciate and practice silence as a pathway to spiritual growth.

Lord, grant me the discipline to seek quiet moments where I can clearly hear and obey Your voice.

Pray for CAC Babalola Memorial International Miracle Camp, the Camp Coordinator, the Camp Manager, and all staff, that God will guide and strengthen them in their duties.

SUGGESTED HYMN

CACGHB 450

Master, speak! Thy servant heareth,

Waiting for Thy gracious word;

Longing for Thy voice that cheereth;

Master! Let it now be heard.

I am listening, Lord, for Thee;

What hast Thou to say to me?

(Continue with remaining verses as in the hymn book.)
