Father, equip me with every resource I need to shine for You in 2026. Amen.

BIBLE TEXT

Matthew 5:14–16

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

LESSON INTRODUCTION

To arise and shine is both God’s divine plan and His command for the transformation of our lives. This transformation is activated through a living connection with Jesus Christ. Rising and shining do not happen by chance—they are deliberate choices. No one shines without first arising. To shine, you must rise.

To help members understand the necessity of arising and shining.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES

At the end of this lesson, members should be able to:

TEXT REVIEW: MATTHEW 5:14–16

Every believer is the light of the world.

Believers are not to hide their light but allow it to shine openly.

Good works should be visible to all.

When believers shine, glory is returned to Almighty God.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE: WHO CAN ARISE?

Those willing to wake up from spiritual slumber (Proverbs 6:9–11).

Those ready to abandon complacency (Genesis 49:14–15).

Those determined to quit failure and unproductive pursuits.

Those seeking restoration after defeat or disappointment (Proverbs 24:16).

Those prepared to exchange weariness for God’s strength (1 Kings 19:4–8).

Those ready to leave a life without vision or purpose (Habakkuk 2:2; Hosea 4:6).

LESSON OUTLINE TWO: LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE

What does it mean to let your light shine?

i. Live as an example of righteousness to the world (Matthew 5:16).

ii. Extend a helping hand to those in need (Matthew 25:35–40).

iii. Be a true disciple of Christ by winning souls and mentoring new converts (Matthew 28:19–20).

iv. Serve as a faithful steward in God’s vineyard, protecting His investment (Matthew 25:14–20).

v. Speak the truth in love, regardless of circumstances (Ephesians 4:14–15).

vi. Become all that God has created you to be, irrespective of feelings or reactions (Ephesians 2:10).

vii. Reflect the light of Christ to everyone around you.

SUMMARY

When believers shine in this world, all glory and praise return to Almighty God.

CONCLUSION

“Arise and shine” is a message of hope to the hopeless, joy to the sorrowful, strength to the weary, awakening to the slumbering, recovery and victory to the defeated, and direction to the visionless. However, a genuine relationship with God is essential before one can truly shine.

PRAYER POINTS

Father, help me to rise from every form of spiritual slumber.

Every spirit of complacency in my life, die in Jesus’ name.

Everything causing failure and unproductive efforts in my life, be silenced.

Father, restore my freedom from past defeat and disappointment.

Lord, remove weariness from my life and strengthen me to do Your work.
