OPENING PRAYER

Father, scatter into pieces every prison enemy holding the lives and destinies of members of this House Fellowship Centre, in Jesus’ name.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

Leaders should remind members of last week’s lesson: God can overrule issues and limitations.

MEMORY VERSE

“And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him.”

BIBLE TEXT: Acts 12:4–11

LESSON INTRODUCTION

Acts 12:6 tells us that on the very night before Peter was to be executed, he was fast asleep—double-chained between two soldiers, while guards stood watch at the prison gate. Yet, despite the tight security and Herod’s deadly intentions, Peter was miraculously delivered. This teaches us that no matter how strong the plans of the enemy may seem, the final authority belongs to God. He alone has the power to break every prison gate and grant liberty to His children.

LESSON AIM

To help members understand that prison is not the final destination for God’s children.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this lesson, members should understand that:

The enemy has evil intentions against God’s elect.

God has the power to frustrate every wicked plan of the enemy.

TEXT REVIEW (Acts 12:4–11)

Your present situation is not your final destination.

For victory to be complete, adversarial powers must be defeated.

God’s presence is available in every challenge.

Knowing God’s power brings peace in turbulent situations.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE

ENEMY HAS INTENTIONS

In Acts 12:11, Peter came to a full realization that the Lord had sent His angel to deliver him from Herod and from the expectations of the Jews. This confirms that the enemy has deliberate and dangerous intentions against God’s children, such as:

Making believers feel abandoned and alone (1 Kings 19:4, 14–18).

Causing people to labour without tangible results (Luke 5:1–5).

Delaying the fulfillment of God’s promises (Exodus 2:23–26; 1 Samuel 17:4–10).

Weakening faith in God (Genesis 18:12).

Stealing, killing, and destroying (John 10:10).

Imprisoning God’s children spiritually or physically, as with Peter.

Blinding the minds of unbelievers and believers alike (2 Corinthians 4:4).

LESSON OUTLINE TWO

DEVIL’S INTENTIONS CAN BE FRUSTRATED

Although the devil seeks to steal, delay, and destroy, God has the power to nullify every evil plan. When believers put on the whole armour of God, they can stand against the schemes of the enemy.

Biblical examples of God frustrating evil intentions include:

The widow of Nain, overwhelmed by grief, received divine intervention (Luke 7:11–15).

Mordecai and the Jews, sentenced to death, experienced a reversal of evil decrees.

Joseph, whose dreams seemed lost, was located by divine favour in prison (Genesis 41:14).

The Shunammite woman received a miracle child through divine intervention (2 Kings 4:14–17).

A widow’s last meal became inexhaustible by God’s power.

Four hundred distressed men who followed David later became a mighty army (1 Samuel 22:1–4).

Meditation and study of God’s Word strengthen spiritual victory (Psalm 119:9,11).

Prayer and fasting break spiritual strongholds (Mark 9:29; Isaiah 58:6).

SUMMARY

In every challenge of life, God’s presence is always available.

CONCLUSION

God has absolute power and authority over the devil. Satan does not operate freely without limits. Though he seeks to use pain and pleasure to render people miserable and unfulfilled, our Heavenly Father is committed to frustrating all his plans against His children.

WEEKLY ACTIVITY

Discuss practical ways demonic intentions can be frustrated.

PRAYER POINTS

Father, break every barrier hindering the fulfillment of Your promises in my life.

Father, terminate everything that could cause me to lose my faith in You.

Father, destroy every antagonist to my breakthroughs.

Father, deliver all believers from demonic prisons, just as You delivered Peter.

Every veil blinding the minds of believers, be removed in Jesus’ name.

GOLDEN DIET FOR THE WEEK

Monday: Offer God quality praise for one hour.

Tuesday: Raise an altar for the enthronement of God’s sovereignty in our nation.

Wednesday: Pray for evangelists across the world.

Thursday: Intercede for all pastors, both full-time and part-time.

Friday: Pray for fresh anointing upon all godly vessels.

Saturday: Pray against evil vices in all nations.

Sunday: Intercede for peace and unity in all Christian homes
