MESSAGE

Managing money is not only for adults; it is an important life skill everyone must learn, including teenagers. When you start practising good money habits early, you are less likely to struggle financially as an adult. Before my children became teenagers, we taught them the principles of financial stewardship, and by God’s grace, they followed them. Today, they are doing well financially.

In today’s Bible reading, the ant is described as wise because it stores food during the summer when there is plenty. This teaches us the importance of planning ahead. As a teenager, it is wise to set financial goals. Whether you receive an allowance from your parents or earn money from a small business, learning to save before spending is a key step toward financial wisdom.

To manage your money well, you can use a piggy bank or a savings app on your phone. Choose to save daily, weekly, or monthly. You can also save towards personal development, such as learning a skill or enrolling in a professional course. In addition, keep track of your spending. Buy what you truly need rather than everything you want. By practising these habits intentionally, you will develop financial discipline, accountability, and strong money-management skills.
