TOPIC: NEW BIRTH IN CHRIST 

SUNDAY SCHOOL HYMN

BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 3:3-8

[3]Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

[4]Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

[5]Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

[6]That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

[7]Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

[8]The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

MEMORY VERSE: 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

INTRODUCTION: The concept "New Birth in Christ" refers to the spiritual transformation that occurs when an individual accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. This new birth is not a physical rebirth but a spiritual one. It signifies a complete change in a person's life, moving from a sinful nature into a new life led by the Holy Spirit.

A. THE NEED FOR NEW BIRTH IN CHRIST

1. The Sinful Nature of Humanity. Romans 3:23

2. Separation from God due to sin. Isaiah 59:2

3. God's plan for salvation through Jesus Christ. John 14:6

B. THE PROCESS OF NEW BIRTH IN CHRIST

1. Hearing the Gospel: You must first hear and understand the Good News of Jesus Christ. (Romans 10:17)

2. Conviction of Sin: The Holy Spirit shows your need for a Savior. (John 16:8)

3. Repentance: You must turn away from sin and turn your heart toward God. (Acts 3:19)

4. Faith in Jesus Christ: You must believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again. (John 3:16, Romans 10:9)

5. Regeneration: The Holy Spirit gives you a new heart and spirit. (John 3:3-5, Titus 3:5)

6. Justification: God declares you righteous because of your faith. (Romans 5:1)

7. Adoption into God's Family: You become a child. (John 1 12-13)

8. Transformation and Growth: Your life begins to reflect your new identity in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17 Galatians 5:22-23)

C. BENEFITS OF NEW BIRTH IN CHRIST

CONCLUSION: The new birth signifies a complete change in one's inner being, moving from a sinful nature to a new nature that desires to live righteously. The new birth enables a person to have a direct and personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
