OUR DAILY BREAD DEVOTIONAL – JUNE 11, 2026
TOPIC: READY TO SHARE YOUR HOPE
MEMORY VERSE:
"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." — 1 Peter 3:15
SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Peter 3:13-17
BIBLE IN A YEAR: Ezra 1-2; John 19:23-42
TODAY'S INSIGHT
One of the central truths in 1 Peter 3:13-17 is that a life filled with Christ's hope naturally attracts attention. In a world marked by uncertainty, pain, and disappointment, people often notice those who remain joyful, peaceful, and confident despite difficult circumstances.
Peter encourages believers to always be ready to explain the source of their hope. When others see the difference Christ makes in our lives, they may become curious and ask questions. These moments provide valuable opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ—the One who has given us a living hope through His resurrection from the dead (1 Peter 1:3).
As followers of Christ, we should be prepared to lovingly and confidently point others to Him whenever opportunities arise.
TODAY'S DEVOTION
A teenage girl named Claire once visited a rehabilitation center with her school group. During the visit, she struck up a conversation about faith with a young man much older and larger than herself.
As they talked, Claire clearly explained the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. The young man responded by sharing his own spiritual beliefs, which differed greatly from hers. The discussion continued respectfully, with both sides exchanging thoughts and questions.
Eventually, the young man paused and said, "You've got me. I can't argue with what you're saying."
Although he didn't immediately accept Christ, something important happened that day—a seed was planted in his heart. Claire would have loved to see him surrender his life to Jesus, but she found peace in knowing she had faithfully fulfilled God's calling to share the truth.
Claire wasn't ashamed of the gospel. She was prepared to explain the reason for her hope, and she did so with kindness, wisdom, and grace. Her example reminds us that our responsibility is to faithfully share God's message; the work of changing hearts belongs to Him.
What a privilege it is to make Christ known! May we remain ready, willing, and equipped to share the hope we have in Jesus whenever God opens the door.
REFLECTION
Are you prepared to explain the hope you have in Christ?
Who in your life needs to hear the message of salvation today?
How can you grow in confidence when sharing your faith with others?
PRAYER
Father, thank You for the living hope I have through Jesus Christ. Help me to boldly and graciously share my faith whenever opportunities arise. Fill my heart with wisdom, love, and courage so that others may come to know You through my words and actions. In Jesus' name, Amen. :::
