BIBLE READING: Mark 10:49–52

[49] So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”

[50] And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.

[51] So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”

[52] Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.

EXPOSITION

Today, we give thanks to God for the gift of Braille, a remarkable invention that has enabled millions of visually impaired people to read, learn, communicate, and live with dignity and independence. It reminds us powerfully that God’s love, care, and purpose extend to everyone without exception.

Our Bible text presents the compassionate encounter between Jesus and Bartimaeus. Though blind and ignored by society, Bartimaeus was noticed, called, and healed by Jesus. This encounter affirms a timeless truth: no one is invisible to Christ. Ability or disability does not diminish a person’s worth before God.

Just as Braille brings light to those who cannot see physically, Jesus brings hope, healing, and restoration to the darkest places of human life. His touch restores dignity, renews faith, and opens new paths of purpose.

As we mark World Braille Day, we are challenged to reflect Christ’s love by showing kindness and practical care. We must support initiatives that promote accessibility, encourage the vulnerable, and build communities where everyone feels valued and included. The way Jesus responded to the need of a visually impaired man calls us to reject stigma and to offer belonging in our homes, churches, and society.

As we pray and act, may our lives reflect God’s heart—bringing hope, love, and inclusion to all. Amen.

PRAYER POINTS

Thank God for the gift of Braille and for all who work to improve the lives of the visually impaired.

Pray for strength, healing, comfort, and divine blessings for those living with visual impairments.

Ask God for wisdom, compassion, and courage to love others as Christ did and to help build an inclusive world.
