TOPIC: START FROM YOUR JERUSALEM
MEMORY VERSE
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." — Acts 1:8 (KJV)
BIBLE READING
Luke 16:10-11
"He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?"
MESSAGE
As believers, we are called to be the light of the world, just as Jesus instructed in Matthew 5:14. While many Christians acknowledge this responsibility, some have yet to allow Christ's light to shine within their homes, communities, and among those closest to them. Imagine the impact if every believer took personal responsibility for leading their family, neighbours, and hometown to Christ. The world would be transformed one community at a time.
When God changes a life, He intends that transformation to influence others. Through God's grace, Pastor E.A. Adeboye became a source of blessing not only to the nations but also to his hometown, Ifewara. Today, the community enjoys the positive influence that comes when God's light shines through one faithful believer. Wherever God has placed you, He expects you to be a channel of His love, truth, and power.
Before Jesus sent His disciples to the nations, He instructed them to begin from Jerusalem, then move to Judea, Samaria, and eventually to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). This reveals God's pattern for effective ministry: start with those closest to you. Your "Jerusalem" represents your family, friends, neighbours, workplace, and immediate environment.
Many desire global impact while neglecting local responsibility. However, God often entrusts greater opportunities to those who have proven faithful in smaller assignments. As today's Bible reading teaches, faithfulness in little things qualifies a person for greater responsibilities. If you overlook your immediate sphere of influence, you may hinder the larger assignments God has prepared for you.
Beloved, seek God's wisdom on how to be more effective in your Jerusalem. Let your family experience the love of Christ through your actions. Share the gospel with those around you, and allow your lifestyle to point others to God. As you faithfully shine His light where you are, He will open doors for even greater impact.
May God's light shine through you to your family, neighbours, colleagues, community, and beyond, in Jesus' name. Amen.
REFLECTION
Do your family members, neighbours, friends, and colleagues see the love and character of Christ in your daily life?

HYMN 12: ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS
1. Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before;
Christ, the Royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See His banners go.
Chorus:
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before.
2. At the name of Jesus
Satan's hosts doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers,
On to victory!
Hell's foundations tremble
At the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise.
3. Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod.
We are not divided,
All one body we;
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity.
4. Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the Church of Jesus
Constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never
'Gainst that Church prevail;
We have Christ's own promise,
And that cannot fail.
5. Onward then, ye people,
Join our happy throng;
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song.
"Glory, praise, and honour
Unto Christ the King!"
This through countless ages
Men and angels sing.
Chorus:
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before.
