And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.

And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten herself up.

When Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.”

He laid His hands on her, and immediately she stood upright and glorified God.

But the ruler of the synagogue became indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath. He said to the people, “There are six days in which men ought to work; come on those days to be healed, not on the Sabbath day.”

The Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrite! Does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it away to give it water?”

“And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has bound for eighteen years, be set free from this bondage on the Sabbath day?”

Message

Whenever God decides to change what seems impossible, He often begins with a divine encounter. In many cases, He arranges circumstances so that people meet at the right place and time according to His purpose.

There was once a man who remained unmarried until the age of fifty because he could not gather the courage to ask a woman to marry him. Though he was well educated, the enemy had placed such fear in his heart that he could not even speak to any woman he liked. He knew something was wrong but did not know how to break free from it.

Thankfully, God arranged for a special programme to be held in his town. During the programme, the man surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. Not only was his soul saved, but the bondage that had held him for years was completely broken. Six months later, he got married, and within nine months, his wife gave birth to twins. Two years later, another set of twins arrived. This testimony shows that no bondage is too strong for God to break. I pray that every yoke troubling your life will be destroyed today, in Jesus’ name.

In today’s Bible passage, Jesus was teaching in the synagogue when He encountered a woman who had been bound by the devil for eighteen years. She was so bent over that she could not stand upright. For nearly two decades, she lived under this limitation. However, the day she met Jesus was the day her story changed. The bondage that had kept her down for years was instantly broken, and she was able to stand straight and glorify God.

The Bible declares in Isaiah 10:27 that every yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. Therefore, I declare in the mighty name of Jesus that whatever has been keeping you from lifting your head in joy will be broken. May God grant you a divine encounter that will completely set you free from every form of bondage, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Point

Father, please grant me a divine encounter with You that will break every form of bondage in my life, in Jesus’ name.
