EXPOSITION

In times of hardship, many people are tempted to blame God, questioning His goodness or fairness. However, such reactions fail to recognize the true nature of God. The Scriptures consistently affirm that God is good, faithful, and intentional in all His dealings with humanity. His plans for His children are rooted in love and hope, not harm (Jeremiah 29:11; Romans 8:28).

Psalm 34:8 invites us to personally experience God’s goodness rather than judge Him by momentary difficulties. Romans 8:28 assures us that God is at work in all circumstances—pleasant or painful—bringing good to those who love Him. James 1:17 further reminds us that God’s character never changes; He is the constant source of every good and perfect gift.

Hardships, therefore, do not define God’s character. Instead, they serve as opportunities for spiritual growth and deeper trust in Him. The life of Job powerfully illustrates this truth. In the midst of severe loss and suffering, Job declared, “The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD” (Job 1:21). His response reflects unwavering faith in God’s sovereignty, even when answers were unclear.

Let us learn to trust God completely, refusing to blame Him, and choosing instead to depend on His wisdom and unfailing love.

PRAYER POINTS

Lord, grant me understanding of Your purposes and wisdom to respond rightly to the challenges I face.

Strengthen my faith, O God, and help me to trust You more deeply in times of difficulty.

Pray for our Church Fathers, that God will grant them greater grace to lead the Church to higher spiritual heights, in Jesus’ name.
