MESSAGE
Author and writing teacher Peter Turchi once observed that a map tells a story—an invitation to adventure. That thought came alive for me while preparing to teach a Christmas Sunday school lesson on the faith of the wise men. As I studied historical maps, I discovered that the Magi may have traveled nearly nine hundred miles, a journey that likely took several months. When they finally arrived, they did not find a newborn in a manger, but a young child living with His parents in a house. After such a long and demanding journey, their response was simple yet profound: they bowed down and worshiped Him (Matthew 2:11).
The Magi’s journey challenges us to be intentional in our own pursuit of Christ. When they reached Jerusalem, their hearts were set on one question: “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?” (v. 2). They had seen His star and were determined to worship Him.
Neither distance nor danger weakened their resolve. Delays did not discourage them, and even King Herod’s threatening command to search carefully for the child could not match the diligence of the Magi. No one sought Jesus more earnestly than they did.
Their example calls us to seek Christ with the same devotion. As we pursue Him wholeheartedly and worship Him sincerely, God will speak to our hearts, guiding us away from old paths and leading us into new journeys of faith with Him.

REFLECT & PRAY
In what ways can you seek Christ more intentionally this new year? How can you express your worship to Him daily?
Prayer:
Dear Father, help me to seek Your Son, Jesus, with my whole heart and to worship Him with all that I am. Amen
INSIGHT FOR TODAY
Matthew’s Gospel uniquely records the story of the Magi—astute seekers who followed a star in search of the newborn King of the Jews. Though their experience was extraordinary, their diligence remains a powerful example for believers today. When we search the Scriptures with sincerity, we will find Christ revealed. Jesus Himself affirmed that the Scriptures testify about Him (John 5:39–40; see also Luke 24:27, 44–45). As we seek Him through God’s Word and worship Him in faith, our spiritual lives will grow, and God will faithfully lead us from old ways into new paths of obedience and trust.
