BIBLE READING: ISAIAH 51:1–2

1 Hearken to Me, you who follow after righteousness, you who seek the LORD: look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.

2 Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for I called him alone, blessed him, and increased him.

MESSAGE

Yesterday, I shared the story of the prodigal son and how he returned to his father after realizing that he could not make his life meaningful by himself. Today, we will reflect on the lives of Jesus’ disciples and how He made every one of them—except Judas Iscariot.

In our memory verse, Jesus called His disciples with a powerful promise: “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” By the time Jesus was done with Peter, for example, he had become so influential that over two thousand years later, his life and ministry are still being discussed. Those who allowed God to make them in the Scriptures have remained relevant across generations.

When God makes a person, He clothes that individual with glory, excellence, and a clear purpose for living. Jesus fulfilled His promise to His disciples by turning them into effective fishers of men. Thousands were won through their ministries, as recorded in Acts 2:41 and Acts 4:4. He preserved them to the very end, except the son of perdition, just as He said (John 17:12). All these happened because they followed Him faithfully.

God cannot fully make you if you are not consistently following Him. Following Jesus is not a one-time decision; it is a daily commitment. Just because you followed Him yesterday does not mean you can live independently of Him today. A popular hymn declares, “I have decided to follow Jesus; no turning back.” True followership is reflected in one’s words, actions, and lifestyle.

After the disciples had followed Jesus for a while, the religious leaders observed them and recognized that they had been with Jesus (Acts 4:13). In the same way, genuine discipleship will always produce visible transformation. Just as raw meat placed on fire eventually becomes tender, anyone who truly abides in Christ must experience change. Sadly, some believers attend church services and Christian programs regularly, yet show little or no transformation in character and conduct.

Beloved, now is the time to follow Jesus wholeheartedly and allow Him to make you into all He has ordained you to be. Lay aside every form of worldliness and distraction. Jesus makes only those who truly follow Him. He purifies and prunes only the branches that abide in Him (John 15:2). Do not waste your life pursuing empty pursuits—follow Jesus and let Him shape your destiny.

PRAYER POINT

Lord Jesus, help me to follow You wholeheartedly without looking back. Please make me into all that You have destined me to be.
