TOPIC: THE BRIGHT AND MORNING STAR
MEMORY VERSE
“I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.”
(Revelation 22:16)
BIBLE READING
Matthew 2:1–12 (KJV)
MESSAGE
Scientists estimate that there are about one hundred billion stars in our galaxy, and the Bible tells us that God knows every one of them by name (Psalm 147:4). Scripture even refers to specific stars and constellations such as Orion (Amos 5:8) and Wormwood (Revelation 8:11). Among these countless stars, God assigned a unique mission to one particular star—the one that guided the wise men to the birthplace of Jesus. Though we do not know its name, God certainly did, and He commissioned it for a divine purpose.
In today’s Bible passage, the wise men—likely astrologers—spoke of a star they observed and recognized as a sign of a newborn King. They followed this star faithfully from their homeland to Israel. As long as they followed its guidance, they remained on the right path. Had they stopped following the star, they would have wandered into darkness and confusion. In the same way, people who celebrate Christmas without Christ are walking in darkness. They may feast and rejoice outwardly, yet their lives lack true light.
However, no one needs to remain in darkness. Jesus has come as the Light of the world (John 8:12), bringing illumination to every dark area of human life. As we celebrate His birth today, this is a perfect opportunity for anyone yet to know Him to surrender their life to Christ.
When the wise men resumed their journey after leaving Jerusalem, the star reappeared and led them directly to Jesus (Matthew 2:9). Having completed its mission, that star pointed them to the true Bright and Morning Star—Jesus Christ. In the same way, every believer is called and commissioned to lead others to Christ. Even as you celebrate Christmas today, remember that you carry a divine assignment to shine and direct others to Jesus.
That star is still remembered today because it fulfilled its purpose. Likewise, as long as you continue to influence others to follow Christ, your life will remain relevant in God’s divine plan. Jesus is the Bright and Morning Star, and your life should consistently point people to Him.
Beloved, if you have not yet given your life to Jesus, do so today. He is waiting to receive you and to deliver you from the bondage of darkness and confusion into His marvelous light. Merry Christmas!

HYMN: 17 – Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven
HYMN TEXT
Praise, my soul, the King of heaven;
To His feet thy tribute bring.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
Evermore His praises sing.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King!
Praise Him for His grace and favor
To His people in distress.
Praise Him, still the same forever,
Slow to chide and swift to bless.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Glorious in His faithfulness!
Father-like, He tends and spares us;
Well our feeble frame He knows.
In His hands He gently bears us,
Rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Widely yet His mercy flows!
Angels, help us to adore Him;
You behold Him face to face.
Sun and moon, bow down before Him,
Dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise with us the God of grace!
