WE REIGN BY HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS
“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”
— Romans 5:17
Righteousness, as revealed in our opening scripture, is a divine gift from God. It is not something we earn through effort, good behavior, or religious performance. Instead, it is freely given and must be received. Although this gift has been made available to the entire world, only those who consciously accept it enjoy its benefits.
If you have not yet received this gift, you can do so right now. Simply believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and declare with faith: “Lord, I accept and receive Your righteousness. I confess that You are the Lord of my life, and I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. Amen.” When you do, God makes you as righteous as Christ Himself, because the righteousness imparted to you is His very own. As Scripture says, “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Romans 5:1 further explains, “Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Notice that justification is not based on wealth, effort, or human striving, but on faith. To be justified means to be declared righteous—completely acquitted, discharged, and found not guilty. What a gracious act of love! All our sins were washed away by His blood, and when we believed and confessed His Lordship, we became new creations with no past. Hallelujah!
Scripture goes on to reveal an extraordinary truth about those who receive this gift of righteousness: they reign in life. “…Those who receive God’s abundant grace and the free gift of righteousness will reign as kings in life through the one man, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17 AMPC). In Christianity, we are not victims, beggars, or defeated people. We are kings who reign in life through Christ Jesus. He gave us His Name to live by, and as we walk in His Name, we reign by grace through righteousness. Hallelujah!
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness by which I reign in life through Jesus Christ. I live victoriously every day, walking in Your righteousness and excellence, exercising dominion over Satan and the systems of this world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
