BIBLE READING: Revelation 1:8–19

The Lord declares Himself as the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End—the One who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. Apostle John, while on the island of Patmos because of the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, received a powerful revelation on the Lord’s Day.

In the Spirit, John heard a loud voice like a trumpet commanding him to write what he saw and send it to the seven churches in Asia. Turning, he beheld the glorified Christ standing among seven golden lampstands, clothed in majesty and power. Jesus revealed Himself as the First and the Last, the Living One who was dead but is now alive forevermore, holding the keys of Hades and Death. John was instructed to record both present realities and future events.

EXPOSITION

Jesus is alive! At the empty tomb, the angel asked, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!” (Luke 24:5–6). The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our faith. Without it, our belief would be empty and hopeless (1 Corinthians 15:16–19).

Through His sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection, Jesus swallowed up death in victory. Death, one of humanity’s greatest enemies and the last to be destroyed, was conquered by Christ. Though physical death awaits all, those who belong to Christ and partake in the first resurrection are delivered from the second death—eternal separation from God (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18).

The celebration of darkness was short-lived, for our Redeemer rose again, stripping Death and Hades of their power. This victory is foreshadowed in the Feast of Firstfruits (Leviticus 23:10). Death has been defeated, Jesus lives forever, and through Him, we are victorious. Hallelujah! (Luke 24:6–8)

PRAYER POINTS

Thank God for the sacrificial death, resurrection, and eternal life of Jesus Christ.

Praise God for the hope of resurrection and everlasting life with Christ.

Declaration: I will not miss the first resurrection. I will reign eternally with Christ, in the name of Jesus.
