Bible Text: Genesis 6:8–9

8️⃣ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

9️⃣ These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generation, and Noah walked with God.

Lesson Introduction

Just as a tree is known by its fruit, every generation is identified by its character (Matthew 7:16–20). Each generation has its own challenges and defining traits.

However, some individuals choose to stand out by living according to God’s standards rather than following the crowd. Daniel, for example, refused to compromise his faith despite living in a foreign land with different cultural practices. His decision to remain faithful to God later positioned him for influence, honour, and prosperity in Babylon.

This lesson teaches us the importance and benefits of daring to be different by standing for righteousness in a generation that may not follow God.

To help members understand the importance and benefits of standing out for God.

Teaching Objectives

By the end of the lesson, members should be able to:

• Identify the challenges (pains) of choosing to live differently for God.

• Understand the benefits (gains) of living a righteous and distinct life.

Text Review: Genesis 6:8–10

From the passage, we learn that:

• Noah found favour in the sight of the Lord.

• He was the only righteous man living in his generation.

• Noah consistently lived according to God’s will and instructions.

Lesson Outline One

The Pains of Being Different

When you decide to live differently for God in today’s world, you may face certain challenges, such as:

1️⃣ Hatred and persecution.

2️⃣ Loneliness.

3️⃣ Emotional pain or heartbreak.

4️⃣ Loss of friendships or relationships.

5️⃣ Emotional struggles or pressures.

6️⃣ Withdrawal of support from some people.

Lesson Outline Two

The Gains or Benefits of Being Different

Choosing to live a righteous life brings many rewards, including:

1️⃣ Attracting God’s attention and divine intervention (Acts 3:3).

2️⃣ Protection from shame (Psalm 119:6).

3️⃣ Finding grace and favour with both God and people (Genesis 6:8).

4️⃣ Experiencing victory through God (1 Corinthians 15:57).

5️⃣ Increased confidence in God’s ability to do the impossible.

6️⃣ Divine removal of obstacles and opposition.

7️⃣ Access to divine secrets and mysteries.

Summary

Noah stood out as the only righteous man in his generation because he chose to walk faithfully with God.

Conclusion

No matter how corrupt or difficult a generation may be, God always preserves a group of people who remain faithful to Him.

When the prophet Elijah complained that he was the only righteous person left after Jezebel’s threats, God revealed that seven thousand others had not bowed to Baal.

The question for us today is: Will you be one of those who stand out for God in your generation?

Thursday: Keep the fire of revival burning and you will continue to experience victory.

Friday: Commitment to God’s assignment increases confidence in divine possibilities.

Saturday: A life fully surrendered to God enjoys divine protection from opposition.

Sunday: A complacent person may experience withdrawal of support from God and people.
