LESSON AIM

To help students understand the Bible’s teaching on sexuality—especially homosexuality and lesbianism—and to guide them in responding with biblical truth, grace, and love.

INTRODUCTION

Homosexuality refers to emotional or sexual attraction between people of the same sex. The word comes from the Greek homos, meaning “same.” It describes a form of sexual orientation, not gender identity. Individuals may use terms such as gay, lesbian, queer, or LGBTQ to describe themselves.

In today’s world, discussions about sexuality are common and often confusing, especially for young people. As Christians, our understanding of sexuality must be shaped by God’s Word, not culture or personal opinions. The Bible clearly teaches God’s design for human relationships, marriage, and sexual expression (Ephesians 5:22–33; Colossians 3:18–19; 1 Corinthians 11:3–16; 1 Timothy 2:8–15).

This lesson seeks to present God’s truth with clarity while encouraging compassion, humility, and obedience.

STUDY GUIDE

GOD’S DESIGN FOR SEXUALITY

God intentionally created human beings as male and female (Genesis 1:27–28).

Marriage, according to Scripture, is the covenant union between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24).

Sexual intimacy is a sacred gift from God, designed to be expressed within marriage (Hebrews 13:4).

The Bible teaches that same-sex sexual practices are not in line with God’s original design (Romans 1:26–27).

Every sin—including sexual sin—can be forgiven through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 6:9–11).

God deeply loves every human being and calls all people to holiness, repentance, and new life in Christ.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

What does it mean that God created us male and female?

Why do you think God places boundaries around sexual behaviour?

How should Christians respond to people who disagree with biblical teachings on sexuality?

What does forgiveness and transformation through Christ mean for all sinners?

How can believers speak the truth while still showing love and respect?

CONCLUSION

Believers are called to honour God with their bodies because they are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). Obedience to God’s design leads to spiritual health, peace, and lasting fulfilment.

LIFE APPLICATION

Identity in Christ:

Your true identity is found first in Christ, not in feelings, labels, or societal expectations.

Walking in Purity:

God calls everyone—regardless of struggle—to live a life of sexual purity and self-control.

Responding in Love:

Christians must never mock, hate, or shame others. We are commanded to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).

Support and Accountability:

If you are confused or struggling, seek guidance from trusted parents, pastors, or Christian mentors.

AFFIRMATION / PRAYER

Lord, help me to understand Your truth about how You created me.

Give me the strength to live a holy life and the grace to love others the way You do.

Help me to walk in truth, obedience, and compassion.
