THEME: DESIRE MORE OF GOD

AUTHOR: Pastor E. A. Adeboye

MEMORISE

And you shall seek Me, and find Me, when you shall search for Me with all your heart.

(Jeremiah 29:13)

BIBLE READING:

Psalm 42:1–5 (KJV)

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

MESSAGE

To desire more of God means to genuinely long for His presence and to want Him deeply involved in every part of your life. It is about seeking Him wholeheartedly, spending quality time in fellowship with Him, and striving to grow more like Him. No matter how well you think you know God or how close you already are to Him, there is always more to discover. You can never get to a point where you have had enough of God.

Dear child, your walk with God should keep growing—deeper and stronger each day. Never stop longing for more of Him. If you currently pray for one hour daily, challenge yourself to increase it. If you read one chapter of the Bible each day, aim for more. Do not become comfortable with your current level of commitment to God.

Your hunger for prayer, fasting, Bible study, the power of the Holy Spirit, and God’s presence should increase daily. As you continually seek more of God, you will grow spiritually and receive wisdom to avoid the traps of the enemy. Most importantly, God is pleased when you seek Him with all your heart.

KEY POINT

You can never get enough of God—always desire more of Him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR

Matthew 7; Genesis 20–22

HYMN 7 – I AM THINE, O LORD

I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,

And it told Thy love to me;

But I long to rise in the arms of faith,

And be closer drawn to Thee.

Refrain:

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

To the cross where Thou hast died;

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

To Thy precious, bleeding side.

Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,

By the power of grace divine;

Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,

And my will be lost in Thine.

Oh, the pure delight of a single hour

That before Thy throne I spend,

When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,

I commune as friend with friend!

There are depths of love that I cannot know

Till I cross the narrow sea;

There are heights of joy that I may not reach

Till I rest in peace with Thee.
