2 Thessalonians 3:11–12

11 For we hear that there are some among you who live disorderly lives, not working at all, but busy interfering in other people’s affairs.

12 Such people we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and earn their own living.

MESSAGE

Many teenagers dream of a comfortable and successful life—driving fancy cars, owning the latest gadgets, and enjoying ease. There’s nothing wrong with having big dreams, but the problem begins when those dreams are not matched with hard work. Some young people prefer making positive confessions while avoiding diligence in their studies, household duties, or church responsibilities.

When we look closely at the Bible, we see that everyone God used greatly was busy doing something responsible. Gideon was working at the winepress, Deborah was teaching and judging Israel, Peter was fishing, and Matthew was collecting taxes. God called them while they were actively engaged in meaningful work. This shows that God values discipline, responsibility, and diligence.

My dear young friend, this year, move beyond wishful thinking and empty words—take action. When you focus on your work, you honour God, build self-discipline, and contribute positively to your home, school, church, and community. Let your good works speak for you and bring glory to God.

ACTION POINT

Prepare a daily timetable for your activities. Use it to monitor how you spend your time and identify moments that can be used more productively.
