LESSON FOURTEEN (14)
TOPIC: WEAPONS OF WORSHIP 5: SONGS
BIBLE TEXT: Ephesians 5:19-20
[19]Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
[20]Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Deuteronomy 31:19-22
[19]Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.
[20]For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.
[21]And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.
[22]Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.
Judges 5:1-31
[1]Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,
[2]Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.
[3]Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.
[4]LORD, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water.
[5]The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel.
[6]In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways.
[7]The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.
[8]They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?
[9]My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless ye the LORD...............
