BIBLE TEXT: Acts 2:1-11
[1]And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
[2]And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
[3]And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
[4]And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
[5]And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
[6]Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
[7]And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
[8]And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
[9]Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
[10]Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
[11]Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
LESSON INTRODUCTION: We talk about rekindling the pentecostal fire, it suggests we are referring to a Holy Ghost Fire baptism, it is Pentecostal fire because it belongs to God. In science and spiritually, outbreak of fire produces heat which brings quickening of one's body and impartation of God's power. This is the experience of Jesus' disciples registered in our bible text for today that is why we should anxiously reignite this fire for our mission on earth to be achieved flawlessly.
LESSON AIM: To know that Pentecostal fire is required for our spiritual attainment. Teaching Objectives: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to;
- Know believers need Pentecostal fire
- Know that there is need to rekindle the fire
TEXT REVIEW: Acts 2:1-11
- When time comes, there will be release of Pentecostal fire with new experience.
- Unity of purpose is one of the basic factors to the releasing of Pentecostal fire.
- Holy Spirit is the one that unleashes this fire and controls the spread.
- The beginning of the experience comes with heart of willingness and purity.
Lesson Outline One:
IT STARTED AT PENTECOST
This awesome experience started at Pentecost after the promise given to disciples by Jesus was fulfilled. Acts 1:8 but they needed to wait for this promise. Acts 1:4. The Pentecostal fire did the following:
- Disciples received utterance to speak in new tongues. Acts 2:1-4
- Disciples received boldness to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Acts 4:33
- The fire ignited fellowship and togetherness among them. Acts 2:46, 4:34-37.
- The fire engendered the spirit of sacrificial giving. Acts 4:34-37
- The fire released power to heal the sick. Acts 3:1-8
- The fire brought continuous increase to the growth of the church. Acts 2:47.
- The fire empowered the disciples to pray with immense results. Acts 4:24-31
A fearful man known as Simon Peter became Christ's mouthpiece after he got the fire at Pentecost and started:
(1) Witnessing to the unsaved and moved mountains. Acts 1:8
(2) Keeping divine principles and doctrine of the cross. John 14:20
(3) Overcoming fear, wiles of the devil. Zechariah 4:6,7, Acts 12:6-11
(4) Witnessing signs and wonders in his ministry. Mark 16:17
(5) Gaining relevance and become terror to the enemy. Acts 4:16
Lesson Outline Two:
IT MUST END AT THE RAPTURE.
Rekindling means to start afresh or to increase the burning rate. This means that once upon a time, the fire was burning and for one reasons or the other, it died out. It is an indication that something has gone wrong. If we must rekindle the fire, then we must look for the cause of the going out. For the fire to end at rapture will must deal some known causes of the extinguished Pentecostal power, which are:
- Carelessness - Matthew 26:41. We need to watch and pray.
- Too much comfort. Many have lost the fire once their offer is granted. 2 Sam. 11:1-25.
- Unguided talk.
- Tiredness or laziness. Proverbs 6:6
- Condoning sin willingly. Isaiah 59:1,2
- Overconfidence-ask Samson
- By allowing little foxes that spoil the vine. Songs of Solomon 2:15
SUMMARY: The Pentecostal fire is to end with you in rapture we have to block all leakages draining the fire.
CONCLUSION: Let's go to God now and request for new baptism of Pentecostal fire.
PRAYER POINTS.
1. Father, I need Your fire upon the altar of my heart daily.
