DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

DATE: Sunday, May 4, 2025.
TOPIC: LIVING BY FAITH
MEMORISE : I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me (Galatians 2:20).

READ: Galatians 2:15-20
[15]. We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,
[16]. knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
[17]. “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not!
[18]. For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
[19]. For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God.
[20]. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
EXPOSITION
To live by faith, as Paul describes, is to undergo spiritual crucifixion -- a profound release of one's old self. The life that was once dominated by worldly dictates and the burden of legalism is replaced by a new life, infused with Christ's presence. Living by faith is an acknowledgment that our righteousness doesn't come from adherence to the Law but from a vibrant, living relationship with the Son of God. It is an active trust in His love. This faith-driven life transcends mere adherence to rules; it is an intimate partnership with the One who loves us enough to give Himself for us. In a world often preoccupied with self-reliance and human effort, the call to live by faith stands as a radical counter-culture. It invites us to daily surrender our ambitions, anxieties and self-righteousness at the foot of the Cross. It is an invitation to embrace the truth that, in Christ, we are bound by neither our past mistakes nor legalistic standards. As we navigate life's complexities, may our actions, decisions and ambitions be shaped by an unwavering faith in the Son of God. Amen.

1. My faith looks up o Thee,
Thou lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine.
Now hear me while I pray;
Take all my guilt away;
O let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.
2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire:
As Thou hast died for me,
O may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire.
3. While life's dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow's tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside
4. When ends life's transient dream.
When death's cold, sullen stream
Shall o'er me roll,
Blest saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove ;
O bear me safe above,
A ransom'd soul.
Amen.
