TOPIC: THE LIVING FAITH (II)

Memorise: Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water (Hebrews 10:22).

READ: Daniel 3:13-20

[13]. Then Nebuchadnezzar, in rage and fury, gave the command to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. So they brought these men before the king.

[14]. Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the gold image which I have set up?

[15] Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, good! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?”

[16]. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.

[17]. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.

[18]. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

[19]. Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.

[20]. And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

EXPOSITION

The understanding that God is living and always with us, though can can't be physically seen, has assisted many fathers of faith to do great exploit for Him, without fear of disappointment. The 3 Hebrews could do the great exploit because they had full assurance of faith (cf. Heb. 10:12a). Living faith is a radical reliance on God's power, knowing that He is able to deliver us from any challenge. Yet, it also embraces an acceptance of God's will, even when His deliverance takes a form different from what we anticipate.

In our own lives, this narrative prompts reflection on the depth of our faith. Do we trust God in the face of adversity, believing that He is able to deliver us? Are we prepared to declare our allegiance to Him, even if the outcome doesn't align with our expectations? Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego's story challenges us to cultivate a living faith that transcends situations. It encourages us to stand firm in our godly convictions, obey God rather than human authority and trust in His sovereign control over your life.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Lord, grant me the grace to trust You for victory in the midst of adversity.

2. My Lord, I ask for unwavering faith that sees beyond temporary gains and pains.

3. Pray for CAC Babalola Region, our father in the Lord, the Regional Superintendent, and the other officers at the various levels as led by the Spirit of God.
