TOPIC: GOD LOOKS ON THE HEART

MEMORISE : In the days of King Herod of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth. Both of them were upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord's commandments and regulations blamelessly (Luke 1:5-6).
READ: Luke 1:5, 6

[5]. There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
[6]. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
EXPOSITION
The story of Zechariah and Elizabeth beautifully proves how despite their imperfections, their sincere and faithful lives were pleasing to God. This truth is seriously captured in Herrick Johnson's touching poem. In the poem, a mother, feeling disheartened by her own faults, discovers a patchwork done by her child. Though imperfect, it fills her heart with tenderness, revealing her child's earnest desire to help. This tender moment leads her to realise God's tender care for her, despite her own flaws, bringing her troubled heart to peace.
God calls us to cleanse our hearts daily to align with His will. Through regular Bible reading and meditation, we open ourselves to God's guidance and truth. By pleading Jesus' blood, we admit and receive His sacrifice's cleansing power. And by willingly obeying the Lord each day, we show our love and devotion to Him. Just as Elizabeth and Zechariah found favour in God's eyes through their sincerity and faithfulness, may we too seek to live lives that please Him, by His grace and mercy.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Cleanse me, Oh Lord, so that even in distress, I will still continue to trust in You.
2. God, grant me the enablement to keep my heart clean always, knowing that it is Your temple.
3. Help me, Lord, to be upright in all my dealings with You and fellow men.

1. Shine Thou upon us, Lord,
True Light of men, to-day;
And through the written word
Thy very self display;
That so, from hearts which burn
With gazing on Thy face,
The little ones may learn
The wonders of Thy grace.
2. Breathe Thou upon us, O Lord,
Thy Spirit's living flame,
That so with one accord
Our lips may tell Thy name;
Give Thou the hearing ear,
Fix Thou the wandering thought,
That those we teach may hear
The great things Thou has wrought.
3. Speak Thou for us, O Lord,
In all we say of Thee;
According to Thy word
Let all our teaching be;
That so Thy lambs may know
Their own true shepherd's voice,
Where'er He leads them go
And in His love rejoice.
4. Live Thou within us, Lord;
Thy mind and will be ours;
Be Thou belov'd, adored,
And served, with all our pow'rs;
That so our lives may teach
Thy children what Thou art,
And plead, by more than speech,
For Thee with every heart.
Amen.
