TOPIC: CORE CONJUGAL BLISS (II)

MEMORISE 

I have come to my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice: I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey: Thave drunk my wine with my milk... (Song of Solomon 5:1).

[1].   I have come to my garden, my sister, my spouse; I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends! Drink, yes, drink deeply, O beloved ones!

[2].   I sleep, but my heart is awake; it is the voice of my beloved! He knocks, saying, “Open for me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one; for my head is covered with dew, my locks with the drops of the night.”

[3].   I have taken off my robe; How can I put it on again? I have washed my feet; How can I defile them?

EXPOSITION 

Are you withholding intimacy from your spouse as a means of control? This betrayal of trust violates your marital vows and displeases God (Mal. 2:14-15). Such actions, disguised under spirituality, bring harm to your marriage and the risk of separation from God's presence (Matt. 7:23).

Sexual intimacy, crucial for marital fulfilment, is highlighted in our passage. Depicted with imagery of gardens, myrrh, honey and wine, it symbolises joy and pleasure. May your marriage be abundant in such delights. Regular intimacy within marriage is vital, fostering mutual understanding and fidelity.

Respect your partner's boundaries, acknowledging their needs and preferences. Sex is a divine blessing, not a punishment, crucial for procreation. Couples must seek God's wisdom to maintain harmony, preventing sexual issues from causing discord. Seek counsel from qualified professionals to address any marital challenges with intimacy.

PRAYER POINTS

1.    Lord Jesus, help me to fulfil my responsibility to my spouse, sexually, spiritual and financially.

2.    Forgive my past disloyalty in my marriage and guide me to honour my vows from now on, in Jesus'name.

3.     Lord Jesus, help Christian couples to seek Christian counsel on how to relate well sexually.
