MEMORISE
The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does (1 Corinthians 7:4).
READ:
1 Corinthians 7:1-5
[1]. Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
[2]. Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
[3]. Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.
[4]. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
[5]. Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

EXPOSITION
The crucial topic of sex in the Christian marriage is often ignored, leaving room for the enemy to sow discord. Ignoring this vital aspect of marriage can lead to serious consequences. Sexuality is a gift from God, designed for intimacy between spouses and procreation (Gen. 2:22-25). It is essential to address this topic openly and biblically, rather than shying away from it due to discomfort, or false piety.
Sex in marriage must align with biblical principles. Paul, addressing marital issues with the Corinthian brethren, emphasised mutual sexual rights between spouses. Regardless of personal celibacy, every Christian couple is entitled to sexual intimacy. Denying one another creates discord in marriage. According to the Scripture, spouses are one body, with equal sexual entitlement. Sex should strengthen marital bonds and foster joy and unity.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, thank You for giving me my spouse, my helpmeet.
2. Oh Lord, give us wisdom and understanding in handling the issue of sex in our marriages.
3. Lord, help homes already torn apart due to sexual scandals to come together again.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB: 510
1. The voice that breathed o'er Eden
That earliest wedding-day,
The primal marriage blessing,
It hath not passed away.
2. Still in the pure espousal
Of Christian man and maid
The Holy Three are with us,
The threefold grace is said.
3. For dower of blessed children,
For love and faith's sweet sake,
For high mysterious union
Which nought on earth may break.
4. Be present, heav'nly Father,
To give away this bride,
As Eve Thou gav'st to Adam
Out of his own pierced side.
5. Be present, gracious Saviour,
To join their loving hands,
As Thou didst bind two natures
In Thine eternal bands.
6. Be present, Holy Spirit,
To bless them as they kneel,
As Thou for Christ the Bridegroom
The heav'nly spouse dost seal.
7. O spread Thy pure wings o'er them!
Let no ill pow'r find place,
When onward through life's journey
The hallow'd path they trace.
8. To cast their crowns before Thee,
In perfect sacrifice,
Till to the home of gladness
With Christ's own bride they rise.
Amen.
